During the calendar year of 1923. according to this report, these auto stage lines, numbering 670. carried 29,202,073 passengers and 833,245 tons of freight. This was an in­ crease of approximately 8,000,000 passengers over 1922. The invest­ ment in equipment of the auto stage companies runs over 3i3.500.000. and 1.665 passenger and 1,276 freight carrying cars are used.
