awarded the contract for the build
ing of the 12 miles of road on the
Redwood highway, arrived in Grants

Will Investigate Strike—

J. T. Logan intends to Investigate
the reported gold strike at the head
waters of the Rogue. Reports are
to the effect that a regular gold
rush is being staged and Mr. Logan
does not intend to pass anything up.
He places some credence in the re
ports which have been sent out con
cerning the rich strike because of
early stories which were circulated
about a rich strike in that locality.
During the Indian war. a miner is
supposed to have found the ledge,
but was thereafter unable to again
find it. The story is believed to
have a good foundation. ' The Logans
were planning on a trip to California
but this will be held up for a few
days until Mr. Logan investigates
the gold rumors.
