The text of the message present ed by Judge Duby was to the effect that not only have the mem tiers of the Oregon state highway commis sion been converted to the cause of bringing to a successful completion the work of surfacing both the Red wood and lloosevelt hlghwnyn, but that Governor Pierce, of Oregon, had entrusted him with a message to the people of Oregon and California to the effect that he was back of the Redwood and llooseevlt highways just as long as the Oregon road money holds out. Judge Duby also stated that lie be lieved that all sections of the new Redwood highway between Crescent City and Granta Pass would lie com pleted and opened tor travel within a year, and pledged himself to work to that end. Ijoula Everdlng. of Arcata, mem ber of the California State Highway commission stated that ho alucerely believed the Rodwood and Roosevelt highways would be greatly improved In the near future and said he would labor in that direction.
