than
Rheumatism ii easier to avoid___
to cure, state* a well-known authority.
We are advised 10 drew warmly, keep
the led dry, avoid exposure, and
above alt. drink plenty of good water
and avoid eating sweets of all kind.
Rheumatism is caused by body
waste and adds resulting
lung from food
fermentation.
It is the* function of
the kidneys to filter this poison from
the blood and cast it out in the urine;
the porrs of the skin are also a means
of treeing th* blood of this impurity.
In damp and chilly cold weather the
skin pores are closed, thus forcing
the kidneys to do double work; they
become weak and sluggish and fail to
eliminate this waste and acids, which
keeps accumulating and circulating
through the system, eventually settling
in the joints and muscles, causing still
ness, soreness and pain, called rheuma
tism.
At the first twinge of rheumatism
get from aw pharmacy about four
ounces of Jad Salts; put a tablespoon
ful in a glass of water and drink be
fore breakfast each morning for ¡t week.
This is helpful to neutralize acidity,
remove waste matter, also to stimulate
the kidneys, thus often ridding the blood
of rheumatic poison.
Jad Salts is inexpensive, and is made
from the aHd of grapes and lemon
juke, combined with lilltia. and is used
with excellrnt remits by thousands of
folks who are subject to rheumatism.
Eskimos fling to Jury,
An odd method of settling lawsuits
Is practiced by some of the remoter
tribes of Eskimo«.
When two natives wish to art tie a
dispute each collects hl« family and
friend« to assist him, aa.va.the Detroit
Free frees. The parties meet at an
agreed time In the biggest hut in the
village and proceed to sing llternlly at
each other.
The plaintiff's party chant a series
of mugh verses Insulting the defendant
and everything that la his. Then comes
the rival party's turn, and for the next
hour or so they are allowed to sing at
their enemy, putting their Insults Into
some sort of meter.
The eld men of the village act as
judge and jury, and the verdict Is
given to the side which. In the opinion
of the aged experts. has compressed
the largest amount of insult Into the
best verse and the most noise.
Watershed Is Changing.
A curious result of a study of the
Blue Ridge mountains In North Caro
lina and Virginia, says the Detroit
News, is the showing that the Atlan
tic Is slowly gaining some of the wa
ters that have hitherto flowed toward
the Mississippi.
This arises from the fact that the
Blue Ridge, Instead of being a crest
with strong slopes nn each side. Is an
escarpment separating n mountainous
upland ou the southeast, and the high-
level headwaters of the streams that
flow toward the Mississippi are con
tinually losing length by the retreat
of the escarpment, through the retro
gressive erosion of the low-level head
waters of the Atlantic-seeklng streams.
