Coming Monday , Dec. 81— London. Dec. 28.— (I. N. S.)— Jack Dempsey’s recent intimation that he intends to visit Europe again within the next few months has cul tivated a crop of rumors that he may display his pugilistic talents in a British ring while he is on this side of the Atlantic. Without having anything really tangible in the way of fact, some of the boys that write pieces for the Rondon papers have cooked up a nice little dish for Dempsey. The main ingredient of the dish is a championship battle between the world's title holder and a European opponent at Wembley Stadium, where the British Empire exhibition MedTK is to be held next summer. According to one version of the 1OO7» lieatìier- story, a certain English promoter has booked the Wembley Stadium C. F. T. CO for a match in which Dempsey has South Sixth St. 211 tentatively agreed to participate. 209 The opponent suggested is either Grants Pasa, Ore. Georges Carpentier or Jack Bloom field, a promising young British heavyweight. Carpentier and Bloomfield, it is reported, are to have the privilege of fighting each other for the honor of incurring a match with Dempsey. This argument, according to present schedule, is to be staged in London some time in February. At Reasonable Prices Whether Dempsey is inveigled in to a match or not it is probable that Come in and look them over. Bloomfield and Carpentier will meet in the near future. Bloomfield is 1920 Ford considered the likeliest young heavy 1921 Foni weight in Europe and the legitimate 1918 Ford successor to Carpentier as the Eu 1921 Overland Four ropean champion. Hutchinson was arrest ed in Grants Pass Wednesday by Deputy United States Marshal C. C. Wells charged with violating the fed eral motor theft act. He is charged with having stolen a car at Dix, Neb., February 5, 1921, and taken it to Custer, S. D. He was indicted in the Nebraska state courts some time ago but Gov. Olcott refused to honor extradition papers. Hutchinson was later indicted by a federal grand jury. He was released on 82000 bail but it is said will be taken back to the Cornhusker state. He has been in the automobile business in Grants Pass.—Portland Telegram. The charge for which Mr. Hutch inson is being held is an old one, the indictment having been issued in 1921, almost three years ago. The car, which he is charged with having stolen, was held by Mr. Hutchinson pending settlement of claims against the auto company by him, he being salesman for them. The car was in one of the branch offices of the com pany during the time it was out of the state and was returned within eight days, immediately after the settlement had been made. The auto company has been pushing the case, and was unable to get the county or state authorities to take action.
