Saturday are warned that the traffic
officers are to be on the watch for
speeders. T. A. Ratfey, in charge of
the state traffic squad, announced

A narrow escape from a serious
l accident was experienced last night
at about 1 o'clock when a freight

ing the past few months at Aberdeen
Villa getting acquainted with the
Southern Oregon fishing and hunt­
ing. left this morning for Seattle. He
made a request before he left for pic­
tures of actual fishing and huntiug
scenes here to incorporate within his
series of articles dealing with the
Rogue river country, which are
shortly to appear in the Forest and
Stream magazine, for which he Is
western editor. Mr. Maier states
that he expects to come back here to
find a location where he can spend
several months every year hunting
and fishing for the steelheads. He
, was greatly pleased with thia section
i of the state and has a series of six
articles written.

1924 motor vehicle licenses have
been mailed by the secretary of state
to all motor vehicle owners in Ore­
gon. and they are urged to apply
early so that the license plates may
be mailed so as to reach them before
January 1, 1924. This application
will avoid much trouble, annoyance
