Rudd, track cuptaln of the Cambridge-Oxford team. Is a dif ferent tyi>e of athlete than our Ajuer- lean stars. The fact that he smokes a pipe gives U. S. coaches a shock. But Rudd seems to thrive on It. upsetting our training traditions. The great English middle-distance runner trains differently than our American stars. He runs all the year round. Usually he takes workouts twice dally. His life runs along on an even tenor. He smokes on the days he runs, making no chungee whatever in his living habits. American athletes usually traip on ly when they are pointed toward a meet. They work by spurts. It is Rudd's consistency that off sets his smoking. New Cigarette Cases just received.
