Alwaya R¿tabla SOLD BY DRUGGISTS EVLRYWHLJtt Automobile Camping Is Made Possible by the Portable Bed, Table and Grate, Which Can Be Packed on the Running Board of the Car. To automobile owner» who wish to avoid the uncomfortable hotel with Its hot, stuffy rboms. the camping outfit illustrated makes Its strongest ap peal. It requires only a few minutes to set up <amp. and the outdoor meal and sleep may be enjoyed even bet ter than In the usual cramped. Incon venient, permanent camp. 1 Make Full-Sized Bed. A full-sized, substantial tied is made by fitting lengths of 1-lnch pipe to gether with side-outlet tees, to form a frame 5 by 6*4 feet. The pipe need ot be screwed tightly Into the tees, irid can thus be taken apart easily. The two legs at tl>e outer end are crewed Into the tees and into floor langes, which rest on the floor. Tlie height of the legs depend on the height of the running board, to which the other end of the tied Is attached by 1 bolt, as shown In the detail. The awning support Is also In l-inch pipe, with side-outlet tees at the corners. It is supported by short lengths of pipe, ililch screw Into the pipe caps on the running board of the car, and into tees at the outer edge, or foot, of the <>d. Slxteen-ounce canvas Is used for he mattress. In which wide hems are sewed with very strong seams. The pipes i.t the side are slipped Into the l-.ema At the ends the mattress Is held by stout cords, laced through «•ves In the canvas, so that it can be lightered nnd loosened as required. The awning Is 8 or 10-onnce canvas, made like a tent to fit easily Over tlie pipe frame. The sides should be made to roll up and fasten with «traps.. If these rolls are too long to carry '-on- ven'ently the curtains may be cut In two and lapped over when In use. Cord Tires Standard Equipment falling into the tire. The grate shown In the sketch has a substantial 18 by 24-in>h frame at . pig by 1‘4-lnch strap Iron, bolted together at the cor ners, • gs are 12 by 4 inch strap hinges, bolted to the frame. Heavy H-lnch mesh wire screen Is riveted to roll up and fasten with straps. It la only the work of a few seconds to set up the grate over a fire. At meal times, the tied Is quickly converted Into a table. It la only necessary to provide five %-lnch boards 5 feet 2 Inches long, and 12 inches wide. These are laid across the bed frame; grooves should be cut in the boards where they will rest on the pipes, to keep them from being pushed endways. The awning flaps roll up out of the way, and the food Is protected by the awning above. J. F. BURKE ,’T 8tore In Small Space. Since all parts of the outfit can be taken down and the pieces stored In very little space It Is possible to nt beds to lioth sides of the ear, and thus provide for a party of four persons. The pipes ami boards pack onto the running board, where they are held by stout straps, If the (H4 foot pipes for the side of the bed a re found to be too long to he carried easily. It Is not difficult to cut them In two and telescope the ends Into a piece of larger jdpe at the Joint in the mid- <ne. as shown in the detail, Thls method Is much to be preferred to as Ing an ordinary threaded coupling which makes but a weak Joint for such a purpose. Practically no family which pos sesses h car need forego all the pleas urea of camping, when the outfit can be so cheaply and easily made. It will pay for itself many times In added Pleasures of Camp Fire. Cooking over a camp Are Is one of health nnd the pleasure derived.— the pleasures of camping, and a good P. P.
