These German-controlled degenerates have spread a reign ot terror through Russia compared to which the French revolution was a mild affair. The better class ot Russians, ter- ror-atrlcken and at the mercy ot the Boleheviki, are now calling upon the allies for help, and at the same time the Bolshevik! have presented their armistice proposition to Wilson. It is the enlightened people ot Russia that will receive aid not the mur- Bunch, 2 years; Chas. Burkhalter, 4 years. Ward 4. F. O. Wilcox. 1 years; S. M. Leonard, 4 years. As' in previous years there were many scattering votes in some cases showing absolute ignorance ot the ballot and the righjt ot franchise, and In other cases the vote being in tended for a Joke. This indiscrim inate balloting, which In the elec tion just past amounted to 1S9 votes causes an immense amount ot extra work tor the election boards, the canvassing board, the clerk, and everyone concerned, as well as slow ing up the count on election night. THE SUPERMEN WHINE Yes, they are "supermen." accord Ing to their own appraisement ot themselves. Four ye a ago they were haughty. :onfidcn, and imbued Itth the belief that they were "the Chosen peopla" to rul over the bal anee tf the world. T'jey started aerc Belgium and France. Their of ficers told them to "harden tnem elves," to steel their nerves against an pleas tor mercy. They did so. The result: A devastated country; cities turn ed to ashes; an enslaved people, thousands ot whom were starved or beaten to death; hundreds of thou sands ot women and girls torn from their homes and ruined; babies' hands cut off; many men and women crucified by being nailed to the doors ot their own homes; thousands boys mutilated; industries, crops and food ot all kinds destroyed until fam ine stalked In every nook and corner; the wounded In the hospitals blown to pieces, along with many Red Cross nurses; our soldiers treacherously killed after the enemy had raised his hands In feigned surrender and bleat d "tamers d." These are a few of the atrocities committed by the Boche, and aa a final vicious thrust they gassed 2,000 women and children after the armis tice had been signed. Latest reports state that they are still committing acts ot violence. In the face of all these crimes the Germans have shown a broad, yel low streak and are now asking Presi dent Wilson for aid for food to keep them from starving. Yes, bleating for food after having destroyed everything within their reach. Such la the Inglorious war the Huns have waged upon humanity, and they now beg for mercy. . When "our boys come home they can. and will, tell ns truthfully ot unheard-of crimes by the hundred tales of punishment and barbarity that will make us shiver -et In the face ot all these truths we must, teems, send food across to these people who have omitted none of the crimes In the annals of barbarity. Let us trust that the starving Bel gians, French, Poles, Armenians and other ravished nations whose homes - have been drenched In blood receive the first aid. Then, If anarchy-torn Germany can be helped to her feet and peace once more brought to her domain, well and good. derers. As surely as Germany, the arch- conspirator, Is facing her day ot ret ribution, so surely will these willing tools who at her Instigation are tear ing their country to pieces meet their Just desert Just as a reminder that Grants Pass Is in one of the best parts of Oregon, a regular old toad-strangler visited this valley last night and this morning.
