Of the 42.044,174 church mem
bers reported, 15.742.J62. or 17.4
per cent were Roman Catholics;
250,140. or six-tenths of 1 per cent,
were adherents of the Esstern Orth
odox churchesf mainly Greek church
and Russian church): 159,111. or
nine-tenths of 1 per cent, were mem
bers of Jewish congregations; and
the remainder, 25.691.774. or 61.1
per cent, comprised the membership
of the various Protectant churches,
together with that of a few bodlea.
such as the Latter Day Saints, the
Spiritualists and others, not usually
considered as. belonging to any of
the groups named.

therefore, overstate the relative
