The Fipeseiat HMty 2
Patriotic Citiseia
At this critical time in our nation's history, when every energy of the whole country is being devoted
to that high purpose which our President has so well summarised as "to make the world safe for de
mocracy, we believe that the impulse to assist in this great enterprise should be carried to every hook
and corner of our land. For this reason the banks of Grants Pass join in an appeal to the citizens of Jo
sephine county. '
, The United States government is offering for subscription three billion dollars of four per cent gold
bonds, known as the "Second Liberty Loan." These bonds are offered in as small denominations as
$50, and at the most favorable terms of payment. It would seem that no wage earner need be barred
from participation in this patriotic opportunity, for if the terms of the installments offered by the gov:
eminent are not liberal enough, the banks of the country are uniting in offering to the subscribers to the
loan the most reasonable terms of credit by which they can carry the balance of their subscriptions un
til they are able to complete the purchase. For example, if a person purchased a $100.00 bond, paying
down $2.00 at the time of subscribing, and wishes to pay for the bond at the Irate of $10.00 per month.
On November 15th, which is the date of the bond, he pays the balance of the first month's installment.
-For nine months thereafter, the bank will carry the bond, and at the completion of the purchase price
deliver the bond, with all unmatured coupons attached, at a total cost to the subscriber of $101.50.
'
The bonds of the United States government are the best investment in the world. The people of
this country are greatly in need of the lessons of thrift and savings which the Liberty Loan campaigns
are bringing to them. We are heartily back of the purposes of .the campaign and trust that every one
with the ability to earn and save will join us in this campaign. '
Information and advice in regard to the Liberty Bonds cheerfully given at any bank.
We call attention to the speaking campaign for Liberty Bonds as announced today.
