It propose: . ' "To atari a seed farm Vowing a general line of garden seeds, also taking In the ornamental part and to grow a full line of nursery stock, also ornamental, peclalllng on the government blight proof stock which Profeesor Relmer of the experi mental station of Talent haa work ed out. I am personally acquainted with him and his methods. In fact, I furnished over half of the trees for the first plant at that alatlon. "The seed business I one of the best things any community can have. This county of Twin Falls. Ida., grow over four million of dollar worth annually of the larger varieties such as peas, beans, beets, the clovers and potato seeds. These are grown for the large seed firms In the east. I do not mean to go In to It on such a large scale. Just grow a general line for the trade, such as all tores handle. Southern Oregon Is better adapted to grow ing seeds and plants than this place, aa the season Is longer and the win ters' are too severe here. "There are big profits to be made In seeds. 8ome of our largest seed firms have started on one acre of ground. If we could rent ten acres of good land that would do very well for a starter, but It must be so we can Irrigate If we need It. , "It will take between ten and twelve hundred dollars to start and carry the business through the first year. This amount need not be paid In all at once. Of course, the more money we have, the better start we can make. I have had over 5 years experience In nursery and seed work. I will refer you to Professor Relmer of the experimental station aa to my ability to take , charge of plant of thla kind. I would ad vise you either to see or write him about thla proposition. "I prefer southern Oregon to any other place, as I lived there seven ear and understand conditions. Thla may seem a poor time to start rp, but It will take two or three years to get started and by that lime, things will be better." The letter quoted from above was written by a man thoroughly famil iar with the seed growing business. Local people will take up with him hi suggestion of such a farm In Josephine county. KERBT Weather not so warm. Smoke quite dense. Fires seem to be suf- .flnlent to keep the atmosphere charged with smoke but they are difficult to locate on account of so much smoke.
