Tha. Pacific Highway through Jackson county, where th same ha not already been paved, along the route heretofore Adopted iby the State Hlghwny Commission. Inas much aa the county of Jackson bus already expanded large sum of money In contracting aald Pacific Highway and In paving lurge por tion thereof, and In ao doing has practloally exhausted Ita ability to raise money by an Issuance of coun ty bonds, the aald Highway Commis sion Is hereby authorised, from the funds arising from thla act, In addi tion to completing the paving of aald hi all way in Jackson county, to use from aald funds sufficient to pro vide for completing th preparation of aald highway through said coun ty, for the paving thereof. 6. Commencing at the Columbia River Highway at or near Arlington In Ollllem county, thence up Wil low oreck In Morrow county, through the cities of lone, Lexington ana Heppner In Morrow county and through Pilot Rock, Adams, Athena, Weston, Milton and Freewater In I'matllla county to the Oregon and Washington atate line. A road from the aouth line of Clatsop county at the end of Its highway described In paragraph 1 hereof, aouth by Wheeler to Gari baldi. 8. A road from the Multnomah county line by Tlgard, Rex and Newborn to McMlnnvtll. For the purposes of thla, act the above hlghwaya are to be known as hard-surfaced hlghwaya. Sec. 7. The following highways, to-wit: 1. The road running from the north line of Douglaa county to the Jackson county line over the line of the Paclflo Highway' aa adopted by the State Highway Commission. I. All that portion of the Colum bia River Highway described In the fourth paragraph of the description of hard-surfaced roads aa described in Sec. 8 of this art, which the coun ty courts of the several counties through which the aame Is located. shall not determine to prepare for paving with hard-surfaced paving m herein provided, shall be considered a pout road, and eligible to Improve ment aa such under the provisions of thl act. 3. A road from Koseburg, by Myrtle Point and Coqullle to Muruh- lleld. 4. A road from the Paclfla High way, front a point at or near Mr- Minnvllle by Wlllamlnn to Tillamook city. 5. A road from The Dalles by way of Dufiir, Maupln and Shnniko to Redmond, Rend and thence tn Klamath Palls. . 6. A mad from llend to l.nke vlew. 7. A road from an Intersection with tho Columbia River Highway at a point either in Sherman or Gil liam county, by way of Condon, Fos sil and Spray and thence up the John Day Valley to auch point aa the Highway Commission shall elect, and from thence to Vale and the Idaho line. 8, A road from La Grande, through Union and Wallowa countlea to Jos eph, 9. A road front - Bend, through Rums and Harney , to Vale. Shall be known aa poet roads and be constructed along routes between said certain points to be agreed up on by the representatives ot the Fed eral government and aald State Highway Commission, Provided, that If the countlea of Douglaa and Josephine, or either of them, shall prepare any part ot the said Pacific Highway, and make aame ready for paving according to th require ments of th Stat Highway Com mission, thn said commission shall Immediately pave th road ao pre pared, and auch portion of aald road shall be exoepted from the claaalfl catlon of a pout road. If th county of Coo ahall prepare and mak ready for paving, according to the requirements of the Stat Highway Commlaslon, 10 or mora mile In length of th post road between Roseburg and Marshfletd hereinbe fore described, or the County of Til lamook shall ao prepare and make ready tor paving 30 or more miles In longth of the post road between Tillamook City and McMlnnvllle, and It such portions of anld roads, In either or both of in Id counties, are ii d piopared, that the aame shall be ready for having according to the requirement of the Stat Highway Commission, then said Commission hall Immediately pev th road ao prepared and such portion of aald road ahall he excepted from the clas sification aa a post road, and auch portion ahall then ibe classified as a payed road. Sec, 8. Ilouds ovor the following rouU a are hereby adopted and desig nated a foret roads, to-wlt: I. A road from Med ford In Jack- son County surveyed and adopted by the Federal Government In co operation with the State of Oregon, by the way of Crater Lake, to a point In Klamath County to be se lected by tho aald Highway Commit Ion and the Federal offlciala repre senting the Federal Government, op erating under what la known aa the "Shackleford Bill." 2. A road from a point In Lane County to be selected by the State Highway Commission and the Fed eral official representing the Fed eral Government, -operating under what 1 known the "Shackleford Bill," by way of the Sluslaw River, to a point In Cooi County to be se lected by the Bute Highway Com mission. S. A road from Eugene connect ing Willamette Valley with Eastern Oregon by way of the McKenile River to Bend. 4. A road connecting the poet road from the Columbia River High way ii p the John Day Valley with the poet road between The Dalles and Bend. p. A road from Albany via Leba non, Casradla and Fish Lake, to Bend. , No preference ahall 5e given In the construction. Improving or pav-l Ing of any of th roads described; herein -by reason of the numerical! designation of auch roada. United Statea shall aid the state In the construction of rural post roads, and for other purpoeea,' and to pro vide for tho lnaunu.'e ot bonds or the state of Oregon to raise such money as ntay be required to meet the requirements of said Federal statute, and to authorise the Stale' Hoard of Control to take such action: and perform such dtitlee aa may be. necessary to meet the requirements j of said Federal act and Federal or- ( (H.'il 'acting under said act.."
