Teacher Has Resigned
Mrs. Vera Kellems. a teacher In
the 7th grade at the Central school,
has resigned her position and left
for the state of Washington to join
her family. Her place in the school
has been filled through the election

In western Oregon, her father having
been largely Instrumental In the es
tablishment or the sugar factories In

however. Is the fact that her great
grandfather. Franx Carl Achard,
German inventor. Invented the first
process or extracting the sugar from
the beet, and his machines were the
first used In the new Industry more
than a hundred years ago.

freight handlers, section men, and all
