At the request or the Arts and
Crafts society, Rev, Melville T,
Wire will exhibit some ot his oil
paintings and sketches with the reg
ular exhibit of the society to be held
Saturday afternoon and evening at
Guild hall.
Mr. Wire has been an enthusias
tic laudscape pajnter in oils for some
years. Most of his pictures are
small and are painted out-of-doors
directly from nature. They are us
ually finished at one sitting. ' Ills
style of brush-work has been said by
art critli-s to he midway between the
old and the new style of painting.
Mr. Wire has been a member ot
the Society of Oregon Artists snd the
Mutual Art Association, both of Port
land. He haa exhibited canvases at
several exhibits of these societies and
also has had the honor of having
pictures hung at two exhibitions of
