Prof. Ylning to lecture
On Monday evening, November 27;
under the auspices of the Parent
Teacher association, Irving E. Ylning.
of Ashland, will deliver a lecture
which will be of interest to every
thoughtful person. Mr. Vlnlng is a
business man, a psychologist, a teach
er, a lecturer. For ten years past
be has given lectures In New York
city under Jhe management of the
educational bureau of the Y. M. C. A.,
and he leaves soon for New York to
continue this work. Mr. Ylning is
also well and favorably known for
the excellent work he has done'wlth
the boys In Ashland. All adults are
invited to this lecture, and children.
It accompanied by their parents. No
charge will be made for admission.
The place will be announced later,
though It Is hoped that the taber
nacle will be available.
Miss Agnes Gibson, of 8alt bako
city, arrived in Grant Pass Monday
evening and will remain In the val
ley for the next few weeks demon
strating the uses of beet sugar tor th
Utah-Idaho 'Sugar company. Miss
Gibson has been at Portland during
the progress ot the Pure Food show,
where she was In charge ot an ex
hibit for the sugar company, which
had a dtsplay ot sugar from the
Qrants Pass factory. Miss Gkbson
will visit each of the local grocery
stores, all or which carry the local
sugar, and will demonstrate the use
ot beet sugar In all kinds of cooking,
presenting to each visitor literature
and recipes In which beet sugar Is
recommended. Her first demonstra
tion will be at the White House gro
cery Wednesday. Thursday she will
be at the K. t T. store: Friday. Roch
dale; Saturday, Schmidt's: Monday,
Pardee's. Date at the other local
establishments will be announced
later.
LUST BEETS ARRIVE

The last three carloads of beets for
the season' campaign arrived at the
factory this mornlng.aono car each
being received from Olendale, Gold
Hill and Wlldervllle. It is expected
that the last ot the beet In the hint
will be fed Into the sllcers today, and
the 1916 run will be over as soon as
the sugar has found Its way thro.igh
the various processes of manufacture
and Is placed In the warehouse. This
will require a couple of days longer.
There may be a few tons of beels
held through the district that will bs
used for stock feed, the only crop of
any consequence that was not de
livered at the factory in time for
manufacture 'being on of about 500
lona grown by Japanese farmers IS
miles from Olendale. The grower
were unable to make proper arrange
ments for the hauling of the crop,
and will use the beels for stock teed,
so that their loss will not be serious.
The csmpalgn for acreage is nw

the sugar company are reporting
much success. Farmers have seen
the profits coming from properly
