If you are a democrat, vote your ticket straight at the election in June. And If yon are a republican the same advice holds good. In the East, Oregon is known as a strongly republican state with all the good offices In the hands of tho democrats. Republicans should stand together for the future growth and prosperity of Oregon. ia Washington? connty, since sud then has twice been elected representative, lie is now living in Portland and has re tired from the active turmoil of business, though ho takes great interest in all matters pertaining to the Grange, and wants everybody to get a copy of the proposed amendments for the taxation of express, telephone, telegraph, sleep ing car and refrigerator companies, as ho believes these amendments should be carefully looked over and understood be fore election day. County Clerk God man will furnish anyone a copy on re quest. Mr. Paulsen met many old friends during his short stay, and in a way still regards Hillsboro as his homo. A Rousing Meeting. Last Saturday evening the court bouse wss well filled with both ladies snd gen tlemen who had gathered to hear lion. W. C. Llawley speak on the political is sues of tho day. The speaker was intro duced by Hon. 8. B. Huston, who oc cupied about fifteen minutes in explain ing tho Railroad Rate matter and other proposed legislation. ' In introducing tho speaker Mr. Huston said that Mr. llawley had been his opponent for the congressional nomination, and as such had endeavored to defeat him, but Mr. llawley had won out, and he wished to say that be would do bis utmost to elect him ; that he harbored no ill feeling, and he wanted no friend of his to vote sgainst the successful nominee because of bis losing the nomination. On tak ing the platform Mr. llawley thanked Mr. Hutton for his kindness in presiding st the meeting, his expressions of good will and assurance of support, and for nearly two hours kept the attention ot that large audience. He is an able speaker, could be heard distinctly by all in tho room ; he knows and believes everything he says, and his remarks car ries conviction to all who are fortunate enough to hear him nothing flowery, but good, bard facts, backed with com mon sense and a complete mastery of the situation. Besides being a life-long republican, he ia a native of Oregon, a man who has the respect of his fellow- men, and one who will do honor to Ore gon as its representative in congress. Ho believes that republicans should vote the ticket straight, from top to bottom, and not vote for a democrat because he is a "good fellow." j County Correspondence j "We went reporter in wvwry lown Jack Town.
