A Newberg, Or., dispatch of October :iO says that on their departure from their home after the foot-ball game Sat urday evening the Pacific University boys helped themselves to bedstead fix tures, electric light globes and such oth er appropriate souvenirs from the Hotel Purdy, where they were entertained. The sheriff of Washington county has given the boys until tomorrow to return tliH property and put up costs, or stand arrest under warrants being prepared here. Another dispatch from the same town under "date of October 31, denies the above and adds : Indignation and deep resentment is expressed here by the students, and particularly by the members of the foot ball ciind who recently went to New lierg to play a game with the team uf Pacific college, over the report brought here that they curried away surrepti tiously part of the room fixtures of a Newberg hotel at which they were en tertained while in the Quaker City. The irate landlord sent a message to the sheriff of Washington county stating the alleged depredations committed by the Forest drove students and also that warrants for their arrest would be is sued unless the pilfered proerty was returned by Tuesday with an addition al I0 to cover all losxea. This morning Sheriff Council approochod one of the football boys who lives in llillsboro and told liini of his uiipleasunt duty. The student replitsl to the sheriff that the loys, as far as he knew, had stolen nothing from the hotel, but admitted that several pranks were played in the suite of rooms occupied by the students. It apHars that the bedpost ornaments and door knobs were hidden in a drawer of the commode and that the electric light fixtures had been concealed some where else. No articles, however, were taken from the hotel. The Hick a Almanac for 1906.
