The summer Schedule of the Aetorla
& Columbia River Railroad Co. has len
inaugurated between Portland and Aato-
ria and seuside in connection with S(ec
ial round trio excursion ticke'a to all
Clatsop and North Beach points, and
train leaves Union depot 8.00 A. M.
daily and runs through direct, arriving
at Astoria It. 30 A. M.. Gearhart 12 20
P. M. and 8easioe 12.30 P. M.
The Portland-Seaside Flyer leaves
Union depot eyary Saturday at 2 30 P.
M. arriving Astoria 5.50 P. M. snd runs
through direct arriving at Gearhart 0.40
P. M. and Seaside 9.50 P. M.
In connection with this improved ser
vice, special round trip season excursion
ticket are sold from Portland to all
Clatsop and North Bench points at rate
of $4 00 lor the round trip, good for re
turn pastago until Oct. 15th
Special Commutation tickets, good for

ier for some time was married at that
place Sunday and came home with his
bride on the 4th to make his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Geo Tefft and other rela
tives, a visit.
Mr. Mitzel ha lumber on the grounds
now for building a hotel, or at least en
larging hi residende o as to accomo

can now. They havd had this building
moved a little and turned to face the
railroad and will make many convenient
change about the place. It is but a half
block from the depot and ought to thrive.
Mr. Andrew Johnson of Raliegh while
climbing down the ladder off a lead of
hay, fell and the horses started up run
ning the wagon over him while in a sit
ting position, doubling him up in such a
manner us to seriously injure the back
of hi neck and spine. He is resting quite
easy considering his condition. The Olh
was an unlucky day for him
mining stock, of Idaho, is attracting
considerable attention here.
Two of Sherwood' rural delivery car
riers attempted to race into town on a
return trip a few day ago, camo in con
tact, causing one team to run away and
badly damaging the outfit.

grower of Middletown recently started

Fire destroyed the old store building
occupied by William Wilson, Sr , now
ol Sherwood, at Wilsonville years ago.
The town was named ufter Mr. Wilson,
the first merchant of that place.

A telephone message reached here a
few days since stating that a greater i or
tiou of the town of Layfaette bad gone
up in smoke. Twenty houses including
the business portion was reported total
ly destroyed,
The plaintiff in the rase against Mrs
Rodney Jone changed his mind, or the
law did it for him, and returned the ani
mals under attachment and besides will
be compelled to pay for the loss of ser
vices of the team while absent.
Owing to the scarcity of candidates,
(wive and daughters of Woodmen) and
the removal of several members, Alpha
Circle, W. O. V.,of this place have re
luctantly lieen compelled to surrender
their charter. Th me in good standing
will unite with the order in Tualatin
Circle.
