It was Hon. W. N. Barrett aud
wifo who were surprised last Tuesday
evening by a parly of their friends
who had remembered that the date
waa the 20th anniversary of their
marriage. Mr. and Mr Barrett had
gone out In tho evening to attend a
church committee meeting. About
8.30 o'clock one of their sons carried
word that a neighbor and hla wife
werecalling at their house. Mr. Bar
rett atonce asked lor permission, to
retire. At home tha door was open
ed by Mrs. Hunton who Introduced
them to their guests and presented a
fine vase. The vase was then filled
by Mrs. Siller with a beautiful bunch
ol chrysanthemums. The callers were
a full delegation of Rathhnne sisters.
Gamea amused the younger people
and social conversation entertained
the Iders. When the sisters spread
lunch from their own basketa, Mr.
Barrett remarked that home Just
thet. much resembled a Methodist
Parsonage. Jut who had kept tab
on the dates was not disclosed, but
the occasion was not forgotten.
