that the city is buying more lumber

At one store in Forest Grove, this
week, a sign was noticed whereon it
was announceU that 12 cents per
pound cash would be paid for wool.
Remembering that several large lots
have been sold for 8 cents within the
past ten days, this is a rise of 60 per
cent, and may lie considered a top
notch.
Last Saturday evening, between
the hours of 5:45 and 7 o'clock, a till-
lifter entered L. L. Williams'
grocery store and cleverly got away
with about !0 in rash. Clews are in
poftsesuion of the oillcers, which will
lead to the detection of the guilty
party.
S. Haworlh, the local agent for the
great Htandard Knglish Dictionary,
was In towu for a few hours Thurs
day. He expects soon to lie here
again, either in person or by repre

Joseph Marsh was historian. It Is

Grandma Brown "kept" the first

tract not estimated and a plat of
forty acres by Elkanah Walker.
These tracts all joined and ft simple
stone monument now marks the cor
