Notice to Taxpayers
Notice is hereby given that on Mon
day, February 19, 1917, the tax rolls
for the year 1916 will be opened for
the collection o f taxes. The first half
o f all taxes shall be paid on or before
April 5th, following, and the second
half on or before October 5th, follow
ing. Interest shall be charged and col
le c t«! at the rate o f 1 per cent per
month, or a fraction of a month, until
paid. "In terest at said rate applies to
the first half if not paid by April 5th,
and to the second half if not paid by
October 5th.” All taxes remaining un *
paid on October 5th shall become de -
linquent and on November 5th a pen
alty o f 5 per cent will be charged and
collect«! thereon, in addition to the in
terest provided herein. Any day after
the expiration o f six months after the
taxes charged against real property are
delinquent, the Sheriff shall have the
right, and it shall be his duty, upon de
mand, to make out and issue certificates
o f delinquency against such property.
Certificates o f delinquency shall bear
interest at the rate o f 15 per cent. On
or as soon as practicable after October
5th, the tax collector shall proceed to
collect all taxes levied against personal
property, and which shall have been
unpaid, and shall levy upon sufficient
goods and chattels o f delinquent tax
payers and sell same to satisfy said
tax, or said Sheriff shall charge said
personal property tax against real
property and said tax shall become a
lien upon said real property, and shall
