Monday night pictures of Can
didate Hughes and President Wil
son were shown on the screen at
the Star Theatre. Wilson’s pic
ture was given an ovation, while
that of Judge Hughes evoked lit
tle applause. W’hile this “straw”
does not prove that Mr. Wilson
will be re-elected, it comes about
as near that as the Main election
proves the contrary.
The voters will go a long way
before they find a more capable
and trustworthy set of candidates
for the state legislature than Miss
Manche Langley, lawyer and club
woman, of this city; H V. Meade,
publisher of the Walnut Book,
Orenco, and Wm. Schulmerich,
farmer and stock-breeder, living
on a farm near Hillsboro. These
capable people are the nominees
of the democratic party, but they
are being supported by a number
of republican voters—people who
put true worth and ability above
partisan politics.

Bring back my joy.
Do this and I promise

I’ll leave running fairs

That fair unnerved me
And shattered my poise;
Bob’s wildgeese annoyed me
With their infernal noise,
I should gave known better,
But how could I sit still
When my Ego craves
The spotlight to All.
I, for one, love applause;
To me it’s meat and drink;
Next to Monopoly,
I love it, I think.
Of course I got paid;

But I fear I overreached
And spilled the dinged fat.

But town folks, too,

I’ll giva you a dime.
