Failing health made it impossible for him to attend to his place. Mr. Allen is erecting a neat bunga low for Mr. Rogers south of the sta tion. Everybody is getting busy with setting hens and incubtors these days. Messres. Williams and Gillette are making arrangements to put in a plant to make loganberry juice. They have orders for all they can make. Mr. Northup is doing nearly as much crowing among his hens as the roosters do. But he sure has some fin« birds to crow over. Mrs. Broydon went to Tacoma last Monday in response to a telegram from her son, whose wife is very ill. Mr. Bottorff is holding several hun dred sacks of spuds waiting for a better market. One of our neighbors, I am afraid to tell her name, has a sure remedy for lice on house plants. She had been using nicotine, but her husband took the hand sprayer and put coal oil and carbolic acid in it to spray his chicken coop, and she used it for her plant lice. It sure cooked ’em. He says he won’t do that any more. J. W. Brown is feeding about five hundred ducks, and expects to raise them by the thousand before the sum mer is over. There are several new buildings go ing to start as soon as the weather gets settled. The city man looking for a home on acreage has made his appearance earlier than common this year. + + *+ * + Gaston Rod and Gun Cluo, was or ganized Monday evening, with about twenty-five charter members, and the roll is open for any one who care to join. These clubs are being organ ized over the entire state. The prin cipal object is to make a united effort to have some of the extreme game laws modified, and by representatives of the clubs of different sections meeting with the Game Commission more satisfactory and popular game j laws may be inaugurated. Walter Moore, principal owner of the Gaston Gardens (Lake Co.), was | out from Portland Tuesday figuring I on improvements and spring work to ^ commence soon. Twenty-one of the local Artisans visited Dilley Wednesday evening to j assist the Dilley lodge in celebrating [' the dedication of their new home. De gree work, dancing and refreshments j helped pass the evening, and a splen- did time was had by all. | Mrs. A. J . Hamrick has returned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs. C. Hawkins, near Pike. Mrs. M .Matthews, of Gateway, is visiting her mother, Grandma Spicer, here. • Wilcox Bros., of Cove Orchard, ^ bought a registered bull from the j herd of Thomas Carmichael last week being the second animal they have secured from this splendid herd. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Porter of Gas ton, visited at the home fo the for mer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Porter, over Sunday. Mr. Porter is postmaster at Gaston.
