Forest Grove, Jan. 20, 1914.
I
(E ditor Press.)— In
reading the
editorial on Alaska in the January
19th issue o f the Oregonian it occ-1
curred to me that with the waste
water power o f that country it ought
to he able to generate electricity in
sufficient amount so as to warm the
ground in localities especially adapt
ed ot agricultural development, and
if their coal fields were opened so
that they could have plenty o f fu e l,'
could they not farm and live there
as well as here? Alaska surely has
where timber is lacking there is a
plenty o f stone and rock.

HE principal value of ad
vertising consists in the
fact that the influence of ad
vertising Is rumulative.
It
gains strength by repetition.
This does not mean the repe
tition o f one advertisement
indefinitely.
A change of
copy Is desirable. It means
the continued advertising of
one's business In ns effective
a manner ns possible.
One man has been In busi
ness In the town twenty
years; another opened his
store last week. R. >fh may
be Equally honest, equally en
terprising, equally deserving
o f credit and custom. But
which has the ladter reputa
tion? Naturally the man who
has been doing business In
the same building for twen
ty years. It is the result of
persistency, the inevitable
cumulative eff<-«'t.
You can't get away from It
—your reputation will either
get better or worse as your
business
methods
become
known. Repetition Impresses
the fact even on the careless
observer. Remember this In
your advertising. Don't ex
pect to make a fortune by
one effort, but use it as one
stone to help build the tower
that will raise you higher
and higher.
