One is to spend it so fast that it doesn’ t have any time to do good, and the other is to hold on to it so tight that it never gets a chance. Recent investigations show that it costs the government $3,200 to bury a dead congress man. Some o f our exchanges are inclined to complain of this extravagant outlay; but it is a fact that there are several the people would like to see buried even at that cost. If every person would adopt and strictly practice the rule of not saying anything derogatory to others, only when truth and justice positively require facts to be told, there would soon he an era o f good feeling and a joyous atmosphere o f p< ace over every community, church, school and family. The tale bearer and the gossip monger are more o f a curse to a community than the smallpox and scarlet fever. The latter can be quarantined, but who can corral the former? The good book tells us where they get their start o f tire from. Young man, young woman, let us whisper in your ear. By all that is good, by all that is holy, by this twentieth century of marvelous discovery and wonder ful progress, if you don’ t wish to be left lying on your hack, see to it that your education is not ne glected while you have the time.
