Wenatchee Peaches in London
Representative for Oregon Nur­
sery Co. in Washington County.
There arrived in London on
Tuesday a first consignment of
2,000 cases o f peaches from the j
1 Wenatcnee Valley, in the State
o f Washington. The peaches
were packed in ice cars attached
to the mail train, and sent to
1 New York, whence they were
shipped for England. They were
delivered at Convent Garden
within 13 days from the date o f
dispatch, which constitutes a
“ record” for American fruit
Several hundred cases were sold
immediately on arrival.
The
fruit is large, well-coloured and
and o f the ‘ ‘ free stone” variety.
It arrived in good solid condition,
and was splendidly packed. No
American peaches have previous­
ly been placed on the London
market, though peaches from
Ontario, Canada, have been im­
ported for some tim e.-L on don
Times.
