bales, and the latest estimate for this
season ranges between 82,000 and 100,-

Mr. M iller presents such sound argu
ments for this action and points out so
plainly the benefits that are likely to
result front it that the com m ercial club
w ill earnesly consider the proposition
with the view o f having both fruits ex
hibited.

Miller, “ and am now planting quite a
large orchurd near Sheridan, Or., and
am therefore immensely

in this movement.
“ Two values are to be derived by
placing pears on a parity with apples

fo r the grow ing o f larger and better
fru it and the other is the advertising
it w ill give the pear-grow ing industry.
I am convinced that the Oregon pear
has as great a future as the Oregon
apple. It requires great attention to
encourage and cultivate it.
