A ccord in g to T aylor, the clerk s’ office in the U n ited States d istrict court fo r the northern d istrict o f C a li fo rn ia is badly involved by the disclos ures. H e said that the arrest o f Jew was brought about by a confession o f a youthful deputy in the clerk ’s office. T a y lo r declares that substitution has been practiced upon no less than 300 habeas corpus court records in the d is tric t c lerk ’ s office here. In some cases more than one substitution was made in the same record until it has become practically im possible to trace the original. |fc ’ .— 1 The Chinese who posed as G ee Jung K e e w ith the la tt e r ’ s habeas corpus papers succeeded in securing the entry o f three Chinese as his sons and was preparing to have three more pauedo sons and one daughter perm itted to land when the plot was uncovered.
