The Royal
Neighbors gave an exhibition
drill that was very much enjoy
ed. Everyone had a good time
and went home happy.
Another Resident Gained
F. N. Butterfield and family
are stopping at the home o f his
brother-in-law, W. L. Cady, in
this city. Mr. Butterfield has
but recently disposed o f his in
terests in Missoula. Montana,
where he was well known as a
mast successful contractor and
builder, and after having visited
different sections o f the state in
search of a location, has become
most favorably impressed with
Forest Grove and will undoubt
edly settle here.
Mrs. Voik Entertains
A very pleasant evening was
enjoyed by the members o f the
Croquet Club Monday, when the
members o f that strenuous rival
to the Tennis organization met
at the palatial home o f Mrs.
Gerald Volk.
Games, cards and other amuse
ments were indulged in, and a
delightful lunch was served upon
the spacious veranda, which was
prettily decorated with bunting
o f national colors, intermingled
with indian blankets o f unique
design.

Porter Brothers Busy
Porter Brothers, a large con
struction firm o f Portland, were
in the city this week and are now
in the Wilson River country. It
is reported that they are looking
over the survey for the United
Railway line to Tillamook, for
the purpose of making a bid on
the construction o f the same.
Portland Boys Win Game
The White Diamonds, o f Port
land, visited Forest Grove Mon
day and succeeded in winning by
the score o f 3 to 2. In the ninth
inning the score was 2 to 1 in
favor o f Forest Grove, when the
Portland boys batted hard, scor
ing two runs and winning the
game.

unanimous in singing its praises.

and ever kintlly. Mr. Geo. Hen-
nessy, the Supt., of the car sings
and his voice gives genuine
pleasure and calls forth sincere
applause. Mrs. McEldowney also
rendered a beautiful solo on
Tuesday evening. She has a
magniflcient contralto voice and
is a favorite whereever she is
heard. Mrs. St. Martin will sing
some evening during the week.
She has lately returned from
Berlin where she has been study
ing and all expect a rare treat.
The car leaves Saturday morn
ing and it may be that this is the
last mission before returning
East. It has done a world of
good for Oregon.and will long be
remembered with gratefulness
by the Catholics o f the State.
