THATCHER VOTES
SPECIAL TAX
FOREST GROVE, WASHINGTON CO., ORE., THURSDAY. DECEMBER 10. 1908
Great Physician, and that cure is to
open our hearts and try to make the
greatest possible number of persons
happy, by our gifts, accompanied by
our love and good will With this
thought in mind I am prompted to
make a few suggestions for the com
mon good of Forest Grove residents,
to help them solve the problem of dis
tnbution of their Christmas cheer.
I wish to say a few words in the in
terests of the Free Library and Read
ing Room, which belongs to all of you,
and in which, of course, you are all in
terested. The patronage of the library
is increasing all the time; the demand
for more books is greater in conse
quence, but the supply, and the
means with which to meet that de
mand does not proportionately in
crease. In very many of your homes
there are no doubt one or more good
books that might be spared, and would
be cheerfully and gladly given to the
Free Library were its needs fully
known. We are also glad to receive
contributions of old magazines, which
are sold at a minimum price, the pro
ceeds being used to swell the fund for
buying new books. If any one feels
prompted to plav the part of Santa
Claus and leave books or money at the
library it will be greatly appreciated by
the Board of Managers, the many pat
rons and the library.
