Davis’ home was at Port Hope, Can ada and had been in this country since June. He sought employment through a Portland agency and was sent to Gaston to clear land. He was felling a large tree and in some manner the butt shot backwards from the stump catching Davis underneath. Deputy Coroner Harding of Gaston made an investigation but found that his death was accidental. The remains were brought to Limber’s undertaking estab lishment in this city Sunday and pre pared for burial. The body will be shipped today to his relatives in the east.
