Ruth Fitch is recovering from a two
weeks’ illness.
Two small boys, who had stolen a
horse and buggy and ridden with them
from Salem Sunday, put up at C. W.
Fitch’s, Sunday night. They were
caught in Hillsboro by Sheriff Hancock
Monday.
The W. E. S. club of Gales spent a
very pleasant afternoon, July 12, at
Mr. Cummins, eating ice cream.
This is one of the many enjoyable
meetings that the club has had this
spring. Those present were Mr. and
Mrs. Cummins, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Beal, Laverne Beal, Elsworth Spurgin,
Mr. Gettleman, Paul Hetsler, invited
guests, also the Misses Audrey Lewis,
Minnie and Ella Sundermeier, Hazel
Cummins and Carrie Fitch. Messrs.
John Cummins, Edward Henry, Bailey
Lewis, Claude Allembaugh, Earl Kay,
Fred Lewis, Leslie Lewis, Gus. Peter­
son, Ward Tolson and Enoch Wills,

GALES CREEK
Mr. and Mrs. Umscheid spent Sun­
day with friends at Hillside.
Mr. Hewitt was visiting with his
sister Mrs. Storehow Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Lilly of Hillside
spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. N. C.
Lilly of Gales Creek.
Mr. and Mrs. Walton of Portland,
are visiting with the latter’s sister, Mrs.
Wm. Williams of this place.

Grove, visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Schoefield of Gales Creek Sunday.
The ball game Sunday between
Thatcher and Gales Creek resulted in
scores of 14 to 1 in faver of the Red
Caps.
J. W. H. Adkins and granddaughter
Ethel, who have been visiting at Sea­
side for some time, returned home last

Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Stevens, who
have just returned from a missionary
trip around the world, spent Sunday

Mr. “ Bob” Wetherred and Mr.
Scholls of Hillsboro, are spending the
summer on a timber claim in the Si-
letz country and are frequent visitors at
the beach.
Haven Belknap and wife are spend­
ing the summer at the beach. Haven
is chief pill-roller at the Dawson drug
store.
W. N. Sears came over the forepart
of the week and returned Saturday.
He will return soon to remain all sum­
mer.
The Saturday to Monday visitors
were: K. N. Staehr, J. E. Barger and
Oscar Baldwin.

E lder P. E. Phelps of this city, was
called to preach at the F rem ont station
cam p m eeting held under the auspices
of the H oliness Association, and will
be away from hom e for a few days.
H is brother, Guy Phelps, who held
m eetings here last M arch, will preach
a portion of th e tim e. All who re­
m em ber those m eetings will u n doubt­
edly wish to a tten d if possible.
