So far the committee who has the ac­ quisition of the right of way in charge has met with no serious obstacles, but it has met with opposition in quarters where it least expected. One or two deals have been consumated since the proposition was put by the Elec­ tric company, that smell of graft. J. Van Doren, who died at his home on David's Hill June 9th, 6:45 p. m., was born in Hunterdon County, New Jersey September 26th, 1864. On May 23rd, 1906, he was married to Miss Jennie Anglin, in California, and on May 1st, 1907 they came to Forest Grove and settled in their pres­ ent home. Mr. Van Doren leaves a wife and infant child, also his mother Mrs. Margaret Van Doren, a brother, j Charles Van Doren, all of whom are [ here and a brother, John Van Doren I in Wyoming. The funeral services 1 were held at the residence on Thurs­ day at 2 p. m. conducted by Rev. H. Boyd. There was a profusion of flow- j ers. Interment occurred at the Forest; View cemetery.
