G reat Falls, Mont., Ju n e 2.— T he
hold-up of th e n o rthb oun d G reat
N o r th e r n train at the stockyards,
a b o u t a mile and a half from this
city, was the work of three boys, who
n o w occupy cells in the city jail. A
fo u rth youth, who admits having a s ­
sisted in planning the hold-up, but
who took no active part, is also a
prisoner. T h e qu aret have made a
complete confession to the po'ice. T he
names of the four boys are: Albert
H atch, aged 15; William Randall,
aged 17: H a r r y Rheams, aged 15, and
G eorge Cresswell. aged 10

tral R ailroad com pany, in connection
with the op en ing yesterd ay of its new
line betw een Chicago, B irm in g h am
and A tlanta, has placed a c o n tr a c t for
52,000 to n s of steel rails, to cost
$1,450 000.
T h e con tract goes to the T en n essee
Iro n ik Coal com pany, and is th e larg
est o rd er since th e financial depres
sion set in. O n ly one c o n tract, that
of the P enn sy lv ania, ta kes rank with
it.
T h e official an n o u n cem en t th at the
Illinois C en tra l has decided to ignore
w hat rem ain s of the financial d e p re s ­
sion is likely to set the pace for o th er
large sy stem s w hich have been w ith ­
holding similar orders until conditions
are fully norm al.
T h is c o n tr a c t will enable the steel
mills here to open additional plants
and give im m ed iate w ork to m ore
th a n tw o th o u s a n d skilled men w ho
have been idle for some time. In an
indirect way it will start the wave of
p ro s p e rity ov er the entire South, p u t ­
tin g a large am ou nt of m oney into
im m ediate circulation and stim ulating
all so rts of business.

L loyd's does not confirm this news,
which, how ever, comes from w hat is
usually co nsidered a m o s t reliable
source. T h e re were th ree collisions
in the N o rth sea today, and p a s s e n ­
g ers on the D o v c r-O ste n d mail packet
d eclare th a t th e y saw a vessel cast
aw ay on th e G oodw in sands.

'1 he vote oil the university bill is 228
for and 17 against. The single tax
amendment stands 109 for and 145
against. The majority against the tax
