friendship existing between the two

at the Lewis and Clark exposition,

The spirit of friendliness which binds
the two states together in the great
task of developing and upbuilding the
Northwest was exemplified by the elo
quent addresses of the speakers who rep
resented both the state of Washington
and the state of Oregon, Vice President
Fairbanks, the personal representative
of the president, honored the Washing
ton delegation by his presence and de
livered a short but very pointed and
appropriate speech.

monies, but immediately after the close
