Correspondence CORNELIUS. Mrs. Benjamin Scholfield and daugh ter Miss Harriet, spent last Friday in Portland. Mrs. W. T. Patton and Mrs. L. S. Foster were among those visiting the metropolis Saturday. Oregon Traction people were seen in Cornelius last week. They were interesting the people in their proposed electric line. The Lewis and Clark club met last Saturday afternoon at Mrs. Schofield’s. The county club meets at the same place Friday, Feb. 10. A number of the friends of Mrs. H. J. Lund surprised her Saturday evening by walking in upon her unawares. The occasion was her fiftieth birthday. H . S. Sturdevant and son Monte re turned from Hood River the past week where they have been at work for several months upon the new mills at that place. John Fairchilds left for Hood River to begin work in the Aplin Mills. Jim has had considerable experience in milling and goes now to work for his old employe John Aplin. Frank Bernard of Forest Grove was doing business in our burg on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Goff have gone to Portland for a few days, having left the ranch in care of their uncle, Mr. Forthing and family. Neither our mailcarrier nor milk haulers have complained so much about the roads as they did at this time last year. SCOGGIN S VALLEY. Tom Sain has been somewhat under the weather, but is out again.
