GALES CREEK
Mrs. John Erickson is quite ill with
the la grippe.
Lena and Zula Shorb were Gales
Creek visitors over Sunday.
Mr. Cline who has bought the Brit­
ton place has moved onro it.
Mr. Tykies’ family have been quite
sick but are improving slowly.
Miss Millie Densmore, of Hillside,
is visiting here with her sister Mrs.
Addie Clapshaw.
John Heisler had the misfortune to
loose two heavy work horses lately also
a fine dairy cow.
Mr. Britton who sold his place here,
and bought in Forest Grove moved to
his new home last Thursday.
Robert Lilly who has been home for
a short visit, returned to Quincy last
week where he is working in a logging
camp.
Wm. M. Lyda has been quite ill the
last couple of weeks but is now a little
improved. His daughter Mary visied
with him last Sunday.
Charles Adkins who has served three
years in the U. S. regular army
returned home last Thursday. H e says
he can find no place so good as Oregon.
Mr. and Mrs. John Heisler have re­
turned from WallaWalla, and while
they enjoyed their trip very much es
pecially their visit with their daughter
they are more in love with Webfoot
than ever.
John Short, of near Condon, is visit­
ing relatives here. H e has sold his
ranch there and is on his way to Al­
berta, Canada, where he intends to buy
if he likes the country. H e was de­
layed here several days as he and his
family took sick and were not able to
travel.
Improvements are being made in the
Wilson neighborhood as well as in
other parts of our valley.
Another
branch of the telephone line is to be
run in that direection which will be a
great convenience to those people.
Perhaps the most noticeable improve­
ment is the new house of Otto Parsons.
It is a very fine, convenient dwelling
and so comfortably arranged as to cause
Mrs. Parsons to be justly proud of it.
Emerson Baker came home Saturday
evening and returned Sunday.
A number of the Hillsiders met and
sawed wood for the benefit of the
church, last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Miron Clapshaw have
returned to Forest Grove after a few
days visit in this place.

Edith Wiese visited with her uncle
at Thatcher during the past week.
Several of the W. O. W. boys atten­
ded lodge at Gaston on Saturday night.
Miss Mahala Roberts, of Portland,
visited, the past week, with her sister,
Mrs. Miller.
Our teacher, Emerson Baker, atten­
ded the Local Institute in Forest Grove
on Saturday.
Miss Bessie Wilcox, of Oregon City
is visiting at the home of her uncle

next Saturday night.
Pearl Walters and Mr. and Mrs. R.
A. Herrington took dinner with H. W.
Scotts on Sunday.
David Richard has been circulating
