Jim Harris of Willson [River passed
through Gales City on Tuesday en-
route for home. On Friday last he
accompanied his mother to Portland
on her way home to Iowa. Mr. Har
ris’ mother, who is 76 years old, had
not seen her son for 20 years until
three weeks ago. Each believed the
other to be dead, when Mrs. Harris
learned of her sons whereabouts, and
came to visit him.

and Misses Hattie and Jessie Pierce of
Kansas City, accompanied by their
aunt, Mrs. Johnson of San Francisco,

been visiting Mr. Lee’s sister, Mrs.

up rapidly.
Haying has begun in this vicinity.
Owing to the dry weather the hay crop
will be short.
John McClarren has a force of men
working on the road leading out to the
cemetery. This is a much needed
improvement on the road. Mr. Mc
Clarren is getting the roads in good
shape for the coming winter travel.
A quiet home picnic will be the
programme for Gales Creek on July
4th. There will be amusements for
the young people, candy and swings
for the children, a baby show for the
mothers, and plenty of good things to
eat for every one. Prizes will be
awarded for the best girl and the best
boy babies under one year, also for the
best babies under two years. This
means the best all round Gales Creek
baby, not the best dressed baby. The
parade under the management of John
Proctor and Bud Rants, will be some
thing to be remembered.
