Mr. Carstens of Hillsboro, father of Mrs. Hugh Smith of this place, was taken seriously ill at his son’s farm home near Banks, last week. Last re ports were favorable for his recovery. Grandma Warner, of Orleans, Neb raska, while on her way from her home to visit her daughter at Salem, Oregon, last week, became insane upon the cars before reaching Portland. The husband of the daughter at Salem, is one of the officials at the state peniten tiary at that place. It is hoped that it is only temporary and that the rest from the trip will restore her mind.
