Forty-five Cents for Hop Picking— New Residence Building— Farm Sold— Church Notice. Farmington, Sept. 5.— Hop picking commenced here last Wednesday, with prospects for about nine days’ picking. Hops are not quite up to last year’s yield, but o f good quality. Pickers are getting 45 cents per box this year.----- Your hop money will go farther at the Postofflce Store.* ----- J. M. Mar tin has sold his place to L. Landers. Mr. Martin came here from Old V ir ginia a few months ago, having bought the old Ben Jones farm, which he has now disposed of again at a good profit. ----- School books and school supplies at the Farmington Store.* ----- J. P. Cahow is building a new residence on hts place. Carpenter Crawford having the contract. ----- Krebs sells as cheap as good goods can be hand led.* ----- Sam lx>renson Is back from the lumbering camp to stay home for awhile. ----- Mrs. Wm. Seghers, Sept. 8.— Mr. Joe Bowens likes his new home first-rate, but thinks the work a good deal harder here than In tne old country. ----- Mr. August Roth has got his 33 acres threshed V t last, A) of Which V e f e o D h and 13 wheat; the average on the whole, 50 bushels per acre. ----- Mr. Nick Peterson has got his fine, big crop of oats and barley threshed, tak ing him all day, until 10 o ’clock at night, to finish, replenishing the boys freely with Welnhard’s best to make them hold out. ----- Anyone who thinks there Is no white, bright oats In the country. Just call on or write to old Nlc Peterson or Ous Roth for the same. ----- Mr. Joseph Riefenroth, who has had a contract of about 300 acres of grain cutting, has finished here and bid all o f his patrons good bye until next season. ----- Mr. Van- domlin's onion harvest will in about two weeks be ready for market. ----- There are six threshing machines run ning here now in full blast, and they don’t fill the wants of all yet, because hands are so short here that most of them must run short-handed, and the neighbors have to exchange work as best they can.
