B Cady, the republican nominee foi county treasurer, ts a man who has had an extensive bus- iness experience. During the civil war for two years he was adjutant i that is regimental book-keeper, and so satisfactorily fulfilled the trying duties of that position that he was highly complimented by the audit ing officer when his regiment went out of commission at the close of the war. Since then he has been continuously engaged, and success fully, in mercantile business. Mr. Cady with his son now has a con siderable general merchandise store at Beaverton. He is a man well qualified and will creditably dis charge the duties of the responsible position to which the electors of Washington county will call him on the first day of June next. PaoraiBToa . . BEFORE AN I) AFTER. “ Deputy Sheriff Bradford passed through town Thursday on his way to the northwest part of the county. ‘ Brad,’ as his friends call him, is a terror to evil doers, and is tilling his present position with credit.” — Searchlight, Jan. 15. “ Every vote cast for W . L. Bradford for sherifT or Austin Craig for school superintendent is a vote cast for one of the court house ring. I f you wish a continuance of things for the next two years which have existed the past two years, vote for these men and be content to pay your taxes and ‘sop yer soup’ . ” — Searchlight, May 6. This is the Searchlight before Mr. Bradford's nomination, and after. Against his efficiency as an officer or his character as a man nothing can-be said, so he is ac cused of belonging to the “ court house rin g.” It is true that Mr. Bradford has been in the cour house for the past four years and it was in recognition of the ability and faithfulness he had shown a? deputy that the Republican con vention nominated him for sheriff The record of those four years will elect him and they assure the peo pie of Washington county a sherifi thoroughly versed in the intricate duties of that important office a? well as fearless, hottest and abovt reproach W .
