T h o m a s H . T o n c u e , Pres. sections. B. S. Pague and a Mr. Devers. of Portland, were in Hillsboro last Friday in the interest of the Oregon Immigra- 1 tion Society. A meeting was held in the Court House in the evening and a local committee appointed for this county. Circuit court convened Monday, with Judge McGinn presiding. Anton Pfan- ner w as appointed foreman of the Grand Jury. L. L. Whitcomb, C. W. Williams and J. W. Morgan, bailiffs Judge Mc Bride is expected to be present next week. The petit jury was dismissed until next Monday and after transaction 1 of some equity matters, court took a re cess to the same date. Charles Cave, son of Riley Cave, died Sunday morning of pneumonia and was buried Monday afternoon. He was sick only a few days and was not considered in any danger until a change for the worse occurred some time Friday night. Charley was a general favorite and will be sadly missed. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hughes at the Congregational church and the building was crowded, many being unable to gain admission.
