NO COMMENT By James W. Douhat Washington, D. C. — Want to get your taxes reduced? Then you might wish to 'earn about a bill just introduced In Congress to bring about basic re form of the tax system. Among other things, it would reduce from 20 to 15 percent the personal income tax rate paid by those in the lowest bracket. It also would lower corporation income tax rates and all other personal income tax rates. The bill was introduced by two members of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee— Heps. Herlong (D. Fla.) and Bak- I cr (R.Tenn.) Its supporters contend that u should receive immediate consid eration by Congress because its enactment is essential to protect the nation's future. Here in general is the reason ing behind the measure: The present tax system stunts economic growth by limiting the supply of capital essential for starting new businesses and ex panding those already establish ed.. By removing tax blocks to pro gress, economic growth would be accelerated and a vital contribut ion made to the nation s economic progress and security. This economic expansion would produce additional tax revenue which in the long run. would more than compensate for the a- mount lost by the tax revision program. Means Committee.
