ESTACADA GARBER SHOP Eagle Creek By Margaret Ross George Suter and Roy Gaylord accompanied by Phil Gentemann of Springwater, left Portland by special train last Saturday as Es- taoada H. S. delegates to the na tional convention of Future Far mers of America at Kansas City, Mo. The boys expected to return home this coming Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brackett last week welcomed the return home of their son Paul from the armed services. He has now en rolled at Portland State College. Their daghter Jean came out from Portland for a week end visit with her family. Carl Ronnow Sr., left last Sun day to return to his home in Oak land, Cailf., after a month’s visit here with his son and family. The Jesse Whislers during the past week welcomed a second visit with Fern’s brother and sis ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Barnum, who are presently re turning to their home in Salt Lake City, after touring the west coast. Anoter houseguest over Sunday was Mrs. Myrtle McCaf- fetry of Portland.Also Lee Proct or made his first week end visit since resuming studies at OSC. Weekend visitors of Dora Cles- ter included her daughter and son-in-law, Zola and Frank Black and granddaughters Doris and Karen Crane from Cottage Grove, daughter and son-in-law, Opal and Bill Gardner of Salem, and also her brother Herman Brackett and his wife and daugh ter Mary, from Rufus. Mrs. Homer Glover spent five days early last .week in Hermis- ton visiting with Mrs. Gertrude Sanders. Florence Cloninger returned ! last Thursday from a week o f hunting at Spray on the headwa- ' ters of the John Day. Friday din ner guests of Mrs. Cloninger were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Rig- den and children of Portland.Mrs Cloninger’s borther F. E. Davis o f Forest Grove has been here since Friday helping her harvest her nut crop. Houseguest of Mrs. Wm.Dun- stan during this past week was Mrs. Vina Feyerabend, a former neighbor from Portland. Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs Frank White were Mrs. Edith Miller and a friend of hers from Portland. Mr. White is now suff iciently recovered from a slight troke of 3 weeks ago so as to be , «able to do some of his own work i again. Hank’s. Emory Ford of San Diego was visiting in Eagle Creeek last Sun day. He formerly operated the Eagle Creek garage. He had been widowed since then, has re cently remarried and was ac companied on this trip by his new wife. Another local resident who visited here last week at the Lonnie Smiths was Harry Wright, one time owner o f Eagle Creek store. He is now employed with Reynolds Aluminum in Troutdale. Mrs. Ed Reha has sold her home to Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wy- more. World Fellowship Circle met Wednesday of last week at the home of Madge Smith. The group voted to change its meeting date to the second Tuesday of each month. Ernest Douglas is still in de mand as an experienced hunter of big game. Sept. 4 he was can ed by a Wasco County rancher to come and help find a cougar. It was quite a trek and Mrs. Douglas waited at their tent at Bear Paw campground while the men drove into the Deschutes area.
