Beals is a fourth generation Oregon ian, being born west of Alsea, and later living in Corvallis and Portland. A fter attending Oregon State College for one year and being elected to Phi Eta Sigma, nationa honorary fraternity, he transferred to Cascade College in Portland. There he met his w ife Carole, who i tceived her B. A. degree in education in 1955 and has taught first grade in Portland Public Schools for three years. The new minister received a B. A. degree in Psychology from Cascade college in 1956 and a B. A. degree in Education in 1957. During the past year he has been assistant pastor of the Mt. Scott Ciiuich of the Na zarene in Portland under the Rev. Low ell C. Ellis. Future plans include contin uing graduate ork in R eligi ous Education and foreign mis sionary appointment.
