Klinker Saturday the men went fishing on the Clackamas rivver but re ported a poor catch. John Klinker and family of Miiwaukie were Sunday dinner guests of the T. Klinkers. Billy and Patty Wymore spent Snda afternoon with Bob and Margo Shuman picnicing on Deep Creek near the Shuman 1 place. Joe and Helen Shuman have had the flu.We are glad to report both are better now. Tender, snowy-white layers are iced with satiny swirls of luscious frosting—simply decorated with glimmering silver dragees and pink rose buds. Glamorous, yet simple, this beautiful light cake is one any bride-to-be will be proud to cut. Here’s the recipe. “ Bride-To-Be” Cake 1/2 cup less 1 tablespoon water 2-1/2 cups sifted cake flour 1/2 cup less 1 tablespoon milk 1-1/2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 4 teaspoons double acting 2/3 cup baking powder . Spry whit 1 teaspoon salt 5 egg whites, unbeaten Sift first 4 ingredients into mixing bowl. Add water, milk and vanilla. Drop in Spry and beat 800 strokes (3 min. by hand or on mixer at low speed). Scrape bowl and spoon or beater several times during mixing. Add egg whites and beat 300 strokes (same as be fore). Bake in two 9" heart-shaped pans in moderate oven (375°F.) 25-30 min. Spread fluffy seven-minute frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake. With silver dragees, outline interlocking small hearts in center.
