SIG UNANDER SEEKS GOP
NOMINATION FOR GOV.
IN MAY PRIMARY
Sig Unander, Oregon’s treas
urer since 1953, announced on
Tuesday afternoon that he will
seek the republican nom ina
tion for governor in the May
prim ary election.
Unander, who received m ore
votes than any other candidate
in the 1956 general election, *
said his decision to run came
“after long and careful study.”
“There are m any considera
tions. including m y fam ily,”he
stated.
,
Since he polled 416.410 votes
in the 1956 general election,Un- t
ander has been prom inently
m entioned as a gubernatorial
candidate. The Eisenhow er- \
Nixon presidential ticket re
ceived 406.393 votes in the
sam e election.
The 44-year old m em ber of a
pioneer Oregon fam ily prom
ised to visit every section of the
state—large and sm all—be
tw een now and the M ay elect
ion, and asserted th at “issues,
not personalities, will be em
phasized in m y cam paign.”
PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIFORNIA—A rtist Earl Moran,
an expert in his field, who has worked with many of filmdom’s most
glamorous stars, is arranging the draperies on Barbara Lang before
putting her on canvas. Moran says she is the No. 1 glamor girl of
the calendars. Moran revealed there is a trend to put more clothes
on a calendar girl, but the girls who pose for him must “be bursting
with healthy sex appeal.”
