Clackamas County News, Estacada, Ore. July 26, 1957 C U R R IN SV ILLE (Mrs. Nellie Currin) Lawrence Loonev was taken t0 Physicians and Surgeons Hospital in Portland on Mon day. On Tuesday he had an ap pendicitis operation. Mrs. L oo ney and his mother Rosa Loon- sy go in to see him each day. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Looney and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Tomp kins drove to Saelm Monday where they joined the memb ers of the Robertus Looney clan for a picnic. Robertus Looney was born and raised on what is known as the Loon ey place. He passed way sever al years ago in Salem where he made his home for many years. Mr. and Mrs Miles Wade of Molalla spent the afternoon at ■ the R. H. Currin home. Mr. Wade is president of the Cur rin— Wade clan who hold their reunions each year. Mrs. Cur rin is the sec. and treas. and Robert Currin is honorary pre sident. He was president for many years until his hearing failed. Mr. and Mrs. George Lofton ] drove to East Lake to join their i friends the Woods family last | Wednesday at Clear Lake. Just a couple of hours before they I arrived at their camp, a friend i who was vacationing with the I Woods suddenly passed away with a heart attack. The L of tons also visited in Madras. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brackett entertained on Monday Mr. Brackett’s cousins, Mr.and Mrs Guy Hughee from Tacoma and his sister Mrs. Ruth Harris of , Portland. On Sunday the Bracketts j joined Mrs. Brackett's brother and wife the Ray Birchmans ' on a cruise down the Columb ia in their new boat he had just built. They anchored at Sauvies Isalnd and enjoyed a 1 picnic lunch. On Thursday Mr, and Mrs. Sven Skarr from Nevada City, I Calif., friends of the Don A l lens in Susanville, called on Mrs. R. H. Currin. They are 1 collecting material for a h is-: torical book that they are writ- ting on the early history of | Nevada, northern California I and Oregon. He is president of \ the Northwest Historical Soc- I iety. Dick Guttridge arrived home last Sunday after a ten day trip to Salinas, Calif., where | he visited his sister and family. Mr.and Mrs. Neil Waxbom and Ma d e by son. While he was there, they KRAFT all spent a day in San Francis from the one and only co seeing the sights. Joe Guttridge can stop call m ir a c l e w h ip and ipecioI ing his sons ‘Otis’ now, accord-1 ing to Wilma. She and the boys p i c k l e r e l i s h e s have adopted a crow, or rath er, the crow came to the house and followed them around, so after they fed him, he decided to adopt them. Anyway, a- long as Joe wants Otis around the house, that will be the new pet crows name. By Myrtle Dmytryk The Social Night will be held at Springwater Grange on Friday eve. July 26 with the pot luck supper to be served at 6:30. We received a beautiful card from Nancy Tu 5 ker, who is attending the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. Nancy has visit' the temples of Mor- man and i-uddha. and listened to representatives of each re ligion speak and found them very interesting. She says she is having a wonderful time in Hawaii— loads to do, and they have a swimming pool at her hotel which she certainly takes advantage of.Aloha to you too Nancy. Keep on having fun. One of the most cheerful people I have seen in a long time is Myrl Linn. Can you imagine walking around in a waist cast, and keeping a sense of humor? Myrl says that her recovery from the operation was far beyond the Doctor’s expectations, and she is feel ing wonderful. A very nice person to know. Eleanor Newell is still con fined mainly to her home, and not improving very well. We certainly miss her in the shop, and hope she feels better soon Charles and Minerva Stiter ! have about finished their har vest, and have started hauling j seed to the mill. Those long winter evenings in front o f the | TV are going to be nice after all the work is done aren’t | they. Delmer Gant has been help ing his folks with their harves- ! ting during his time off from ; his regular job with PGE. Elwin and Jean Shibley had ! a pleasant visit Saturday eve with Lt Donald Brewer, who came to call on them shortly after his return from Korea.Lt. I Brewer was best man at their | wedding. so he probably I brought a few fond memories ] with him. Harold Horner, who had been in the hospital for surg- erv. arrived home on Sunday, and is recovering nicely. Wilma Guttridge is a widow again. Joe just gets home, and takes off again. This time, he has gone to Bend to be a Coun selor at the Grange Juvenile Camp for a couple o f weeks Kinda of hard to catch Isn’t he Wilma ? George Beisell left last Thursday for Cougar, Wash., where he plans to be working until the latter part o f Sept ember.
