Last Thursday’s meet ing was a bit shorter than usual but still nuite comprehensive. Subjects for discussion ranged from finances to streets, to the water supply, to fire depart ment, to polic", to youth recre ation, to liquor licenses, to pro perty, to zoning, to sewers, and back again to finances. As one councilman said, “ What is wrong with our town is that w e haven't got enough money to run it on.” So it seemed that this underlying factor colored many phases of Thursday nigiit's meeting. There are so many pressing needs for our town for Which money is re quired that these conscientious j councilmen must surely ac quire a few grey hairs at each meeting. A comment from Dave Horner expressed the at titude of most o f them: “ As a councilman you have to forget you’re a business-man and con sider every question in the light of the best interests of the community as a whole.” CLACK AM AS^COUNT Y N EW S Volume 51 No. 47 Estacada, Oregon Friday, December 9, 1955 $2.00 Per Year, Single Copv Five Cents dacki mas tliver highway Dirt Slide is Major Earth-moving Chore The councilmen present last Thursday night were Bob Clay- ville, Floyd Day, John Geil, Dave Horner, Tommy May, M ayor Ralph Svehaug, and re corder Bob Cooke.
